Abs is a free spreadsheet with graphical user interface running under NetBSD, Linux, and Aix. Basic functions are: * a clear and easy to use graphical user interface * macro language a la Visual Basic Programming language with the same syntax as Microsoft Visual Basic. * XY, pie and bar charts * Printing of selected areas to files The file format used is Fig. This file format can be sent to printer through the fig2dev and gs programs or edited and printed with the Xfig drawing tool. * multi-documents management 20 documents open simultaneously. Copy, Cut and Paste between documents * Excel exportable file format through VBA macro file. The file format used to save abs worksheets is directly importable to Excel with the Excel macro editor.

Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
