Daemon-less notifications without D-Bus

herbe is a daemon-less notification program that doesn't require
D-Bus. herbe can fire simple text desktop notifications
from anywhere for anything. It can be killed simply by sending the
SIGKILL signal or by waiting 5 seconds.

Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
